Bushfire Literary Texts
This unit explores Bushfires through literary texts. It creates opportunities for students to practise skills such as summarising, making connections, analysing illustrations and authors' choice of language. Students will engage in deep discussions and group work tasks, and be encouraged to think in ways that are imaginative, creative and critical. This unit incorporates writing, science and geography skills and allows students to communicate and present their understanding and knowledge in a variety of engaging ways. These lessons can also be completed as stand-alone lessons and with another text of choice. Note - be sensitive to the possibility that students, their family or friends, may have experienced bushfire events, some with tragic consequences.
